Over three decades, SIL has built strengths across hatchery, farm, feed, and processing. Today, Feed and Processing drive the business—strengthening farmer ties, boosting resilience, and expanding into value-added and domestic lines through contract farming and improved unit economics.
Shrimp Hatchery
SIL’s hatchery was one of India’s earliest, with peak capacity of 400M+ seedlings. We helped introduce and nativise Vannamei in the country, working with SPF broodstock (SIS, Florida) and tight quality controls to produce robust, disease-resistant seed.
Today
The hatchery division is non-operational (FY25), consistent with recent years. Our near-term focus remains feed, processing, and partner-led farming. For farm needs, we source post-larvae from best-in-class hatcheries, applying our legacy know-how to vet suppliers and maintain stock health.

Farm
Set on the Bay of Bengal, SIL’s farm spans ~500 acres of water spread with interlocking canals that ensure steady seawater exchange. From early on, we paired modern methods with eco-friendly practices—liner ponds, nursery systems, and careful water management—to grow antibiotic-free shrimp with a designed capacity of ~2,000 TPA.

Feed Mill
SIL set up its own feed mill to control feed quality for its farms—then scaled to serve growers across the state. With 20,000+ TPA capacity, our VANNASTAR shrimp feed earned wide acceptance for consistent nutrition and performance.
Today the mill produces -6,000 tonnes, supplying SIL's farms and a network of external customers. VANNASTAR remains our flagship, backed by steady quality and farmer trust. We also offer customised feed programs for contract farmers—tuning rations by pond conditions and crop stage to lift productivity and optimise costs.

Processing Plant
Our processing plant is a modern, export approved facility built to international standards. With 7,500+ TPA capacity and EIA/EU/FDA approvals, it's trusted for consistent quality and on-time delivery.
We run IQF, plate, and blast freezing lines, plus a cooker line for cooked/blanched products. In-house QA labs, a modern ETP, and integrated cold storage with temperature-controlled dispatch underpin spec-driven production. We supply both commodity and value-added packs in custom retail and bulk formats, including private label.
